Working with us

We are passionate and compassionate professionals, driven by the mission of helping more people live a better and happier life every day.

We understand how important it is to keep investing in your health and wellness, and we see everyday the difference that working with a professional, committed to your outcomes can make.

HERE’S JUST A SMALL SNAPSHOT OF THE ISSUES WE DEAL WITH EVERY DAY

Anxiety

Generalised Anxiety disrupts your ability to live a full life, whether it’s a worry about an event, a situation, and sometimes it happens with no trigger at all.

Some people will experience physical symptoms like loss of concentration, sleeplessness, rapid heart beats, tiredness and even tinnitus.

Stress

Whenever our expectations do not align with reality, we experience stress. Our tolerance for stress is completely dependant on other factors in our life.  Sometimes stress is a great thing, keeping us alert and alive!

But over a sustained period the physical and mental impact of stress can have a huge impact on the quality of your life.

Stress can be a short-term issue or a long-term problem, depending on what changes in your life.

Regularly using stress management techniques can help you avoid most physical, emotional and behavioural symptoms of stress.

Imposter Syndrome

Do you feel like a fraud? You feel like everyone else smarter, brighter, better?

If you’re feeling this way, you’re not alone.

In fact, 70% of people feel this way at one time or another. It’s called imposter syndrome, and these feelings of inferiority can impact you at work, school, and home.

The good news is Imposter Syndrome is rarely justified and usually simple to resolve.

Burnout

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress.  It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands. As the stress continues, you begin to lose the interest and motivation that led you to take on a certain role in the first place.

Burnout reduces productivity and saps your energy, leaving you feeling increasingly helpless, hopeless, cynical, and resentful. Eventually, you may feel like you have nothing more to give.

Loneliness

Loneliness is a painful feeling that comes from feeling disconnected from, or lacking, desired or important relationships or from not having relationships you would like to have. Even if you have lots of social contact you can still feel lonely in a relationship or in a crowd.

Feeling lonely affects your overall wellbeing and your self-esteem. When you feel like this, you might withdraw even further from those family and friends who would make you feel less lonely.

This can become a cycle because, as you become more lonely, people around you might not reach out to you for meaningful connections. This can lead to chronic loneliness, which can put you at risk of poor mental and physical health.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is pain that lasts longer than 3 months. It is also called persistent pain or long-term pain. It is often described as pain that does not go away as expected after an injury or illness.

Chronic pain is often experienced as a cycle where your pain causes feelings of anxiety, low mood, fatigue and sleeplessness, which results in increased pain. The increased pain then causes you to have more low mood, tiredness and stress, so you can get caught in an endless cycle.

The good news is that means there are a number of ways we can approach managing chronic pain to get improved wellbeing.

PTSD

Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, a serious accident, a terrorist act, war/combat, or rape or who have been threatened with death, sexual violence or serious injury.

People suffering from PTSD have intense, disturbing thoughts and feelings related to their experience that last long after the traumatic event has ended.

They may relive the event through flashbacks or nightmares; they may feel sadness, fear or anger; and they may feel detached or estranged from other people. People with PTSD may avoid situations or people that remind them of the traumatic event, and they may have strong negative reactions to something as ordinary as a loud noise or an accidental touch.

OCD

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is widely known where we take on obsessions, compulsions, rituals and behaviours which often become chronic and long-lasting taking over our daily lives resulting in stealing our happiness and freedom. The symptoms of the OCD have usually come along to help us to feel better though in doing so it causes us stress due to the level of effort involved, therefore, rather than enhancing our life it prevents us living how we wish.

So, let’s think for a moment of the minds job which is to ‘Take us away from pain’. In this case the mind sees the OCD behaviour as less painful than something else. That something else more often than not is to have control of the external as we feel it is easier and less painful than controlling our own internal. The suppression of our internal manifests as OCD with us creating the obsessions, compulsions, rituals and behaviours which soon become the controller of us and we become overshadowed by OCD.

Frequently we may not or do not realise why the OCD is occurring or why it is present though your brilliant mind is in protection mode and has created the OCD as it thinks it is helping. We think if we can control the external we will be happy and feel so much better but once we realise there is no control except over our own thoughts, and once we control our thoughts and choose to make them positively in alignment with how we wish to live it literally transforms our reality.

Depression

Depression can rob us of life’s joy.

A person with depression experiences low moods and loses interest in activities and events that they previously enjoyed (anhedonia).

It can feel like prolonged periods of sadness or extreme sadness and affect your sleep, your job and your relationships.

Relationship Issues

Relationships take work!

Whether you are having challenges in work or personal relationships, communication difficulties, setting boundaries, coping with stress challenges, financial pressures, difficulty balancing individual and couple expectations, divorce, separation and breaking up can all add up to become a huge stressors in your life.

Whether big or small, we can learn how to deal with relationship problems through healthy communication, mutual respect, and compromise.

Post Natal Depression

It is completely normal to experience the ‘baby blues’ but post natal depression lasts longer and feels heavier.

The symptoms of postnatal depression usually start within a first few months of the birth. You may not seem interested in your baby or in other members of your family, or you may find it difficult to do everyday tasks.

Dads can also experience depression at this time, especially if their partner is depressed.

Procrastination

Procrastination is the habit of delaying an important task, usually by focusing on something less urgent, more enjoyable, and easier activities instead.

Procrastination can restrict your potential and undermine your career. We still do it, even though we know there could be negative consequences for our actions.

Some people think procrastination is just a label for laziness, but when it becomes a real handbrake to progress in your life procrastination needs to be stopped.

Loss of Purpose

If you feel like your life has no meaning and direction, you may be struggling with a lack of purpose.

Lack of purpose can affect all aspects of your life, and can cause you to ruminate on anxious thoughts that cause you distress.

Having a purpose in life is important for your mental wellbeing and can help you live a more fulfilled and content life.

A lack of purpose is one of the three main contributors that can lead to depression, so enlisting help with this area can be lifechanging… literally.

Weight Management

We all come in different shapes and sizes.

The basis of losing weight and keeping it off is to make healthy eating and lifestyle choices so the energy gained from our food and drink is balanced with the energy we use in daily activities.

Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight means healthy eatinglooking at how much physical activity you do, getting the right amount of sleep, and reducing stress.

Managing your weight contributes to good health and improves self-esteem but sometimes will power alone is not enough to start us on the journey to a healthier weight.

Grief

Grief is our natural response to loss.

It’s the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away.

Often, the pain of loss can feel overwhelming.

You may experience all kinds of difficult and unexpected emotions, from shock or anger to disbelief, guilt, and profound sadness.

The pain of grief can also disrupt your physical health, making it difficult to sleep, eat, or even think straight. These are normal reactions to loss—and the more significant the loss, the more intense your grief will be.

Looping Thoughts

Looping thoughts, harsh critical words stuck in your mind are incredibly common. Triggered by stress, depression or anxiety they can become really debilitating very quickly.

A habit of rumination can be dangerous to your mental health, as it can intensify feelings of depression and impair your ability to think and process emotions.

Recovery from Trauma

Trauma is different for everyone. Experiencing very stressful or traumatic events can leave you feeling distressed, afraid and helpless long after any threat or danger has passed.

We often carry our childhood trauma issues into adulthood, sometimes with massive consequences. But a sudden death, a crime or any kind of ‘incident’ in adult life can have the same impact.

Resolving and healing from past trauma is one of the most liberating things we can do in life.

Addictions

Often as we go through life we find ‘crutches’ to help us cope; whether it’s smoking, eating, drinking, drugs, sex or something else addiction is any time you are not able to stop yourself doing something.

Addiction can take over your life and reduce your self-control. It  can impact our relationships, employment and our physical health.

Self Sabotage

People thwart their own progress for a variety of reasons.

They may consciously or unconsciously commit acts of self-sabotage, but it’s usually because someone expects at some level to fail in whatever they are doing. When we expect to fail, then our mind subconsciously works to make it actually happen.

The causes of self sabotage range from childhood issues to prior relationship effects, it can be linked to low self-esteem and not feeling worthy of the things you want in life.

Self Esteem

Self Esteem is the opinion you have of yourself. When you have healthy self-esteem, you tend to think positively about yourself, and optimistically about life in general.

But when you have low self-esteem, you tend to see yourself, the world, and your future more negatively and critically. You might feel anxious, sad, low, or unmotivated.

You might talk to yourself harshly in your mind, telling yourself things like “You’re stupid”, “You’ll never manage this”, or “I don’t amount to anything”.

Your self-esteem affects how you live your life, but it is fragile. If you have low self-esteem, you might be always trying to please other people, or go ‘above and beyond’ at work or with your friends and family.

ADHD

ADHD is defined as the most common neurodevelopmental disorder.

It’s a lot more than simply not being able to pay attention. It can make it difficult to manage your daily life, especially tasks that require organisation, planning and focus. ADHD can also affect your relationships with others. Sometimes people with ADHD also experience difficulties with alcohol, substance and drug abuse and ongoing emotional and lifestyle difficulties.

The good news is the challenges of ADHD are manageable. With education and support, you can find ways to turn challenges into strengths.

Phobias

A phobia is an anxiety disorder involving excessive and persistent fear of a situation activity or object.

Exposure to the source of the fear triggers an immediate anxiety response, which can be terrifying in some instances leading to panic attacks. This is a sudden, intense fear that lasts for several minutes. It happens when there is no real danger.

We can experience social phobias, of places and experiences, or we can have specific phobias, such as needles, spiders or dogs.

Typical symptoms of phobias can include nausea, trembling, rapid heartbeat, feelings of unreality, and being preoccupied with the fear object.

BREAKING DOWN THE THERAPY PROCESS

We know that starting therapy can be scary, intimidating, or feel like you’re admitting defeat.

But in reality, it can be the most empowering thing you ever do for yourself.

Here’s how it works:

Thoughts

First of all we start with a really thorough ‘Get to Know You’ session;

Your thoughts, your past, how you mind is working and processing life right now. We need to understand as much as possible about what you’re going through to create the best possible outcome for you.

Actions

Then we work out what the action is that you really want to achieve in your life.

This could be freedom from behaviours, patterns, pains, addictions. It can be starting something new, having the courage to pursue something you’ve always wanted, or being brave enough to step away from something you don’t want in your life.

outcomes

And then we put those two things together, to create a blueprint on how you will achieve those outcomes.

Usually that means changing our thought patterns, our reactions to certain things or people, and sometimes it can be about creating new habits.
